আলেকসান্দর সেরগেয়েভিচ পুশকিন রুশীদের মনে ততখানিই জায়গা জুড়ে আছেন যতখানি জায়গা জুড়ে আছেন রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর আমাদের বাঙালীদের মনে। পৃথিবীর প্রায় সব ভাষাতেই তাঁদের রচনা অনূদিত হয়েছে। মাত্র ৩৮ বছর বয়সে পুশকিনের মৃত্যুর পর যখন তিনি রুশদের ‘সবকিছু’ হয়ে ওঠেন। তখন থেকে দৈনন্দিন জীবনে কথ্য রুশ ভাষায় একটি মজার কথা চালু হয় – কেউ নিজের কর্তব্য না করলে বা এড়াতে চাইলে তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করা হয় “এটা তোর হয়ে কে করবে? পুশকিন?”

এ বছর তাঁর ২২৫ তম জন্মদিন। তাই আমরা ঠিক করেছি পুশকিনকে বাঙালি বাচ্চাদের সঙ্গে পরিচয় করাব। বাচ্চাদের জন্য রুশ ভাষায় লেখা “পুশকিন : কে তিনি?”র লেখক ইউরি দিমিত্রিভিচ নেচিপোরেঙ্কো ২০১৪ সালে তাঁর নিজের উদ্যোগ ও পরিচালনায় প্রথম “অল রাশিয়ান চিলড্রেন’স বুক ফেস্টিভ্যাল” আয়োজন করেন। তাঁর লেখা বইটি রুশী ভাষা থেকে সরাসরি অনুবাদ করেছেন স্মিতা সেনগুপ্ত, যিনি মস্কোতে কেন্দ্রীয় লাইব্রেরিতে ক্যাটালগিং সেকশনের প্রধান।
